A Movie Poster

"How to Make a Movie Poster"

Movie posters are famous artifacts. They symbolize the golden era of film and what a movie is all about. A good poster will sell the film in itself. So how do you make a movie poster?

Step1 >> Start by watching the movie several times so you have a clear picture of what it is about and how best to express that concept. Now that you know what the movie is about you have to think back in your mind and try to remember any striking visuals. Was there anything that struck you as visually stunning? Any moment in the film that says it all? If so take a still of that moment and import it in Photoshop.

Step2 >> Go through the group set stills. Pick a photo or several photos that show off the main cast, particularly the main stars. Take those and import them into Photoshop.

Step3 >> Arrange the stills in a manner that is flattering to the eye and expresses the concept of the film. Select a color for the titling that compliments the background details and stands out from them as well.

Step4 >> Type the titling in using Photoshop's Text Tool. The title and tagline should both be bold enough to read from a distance. They can be in different fonts if you choose but they should at least be similar. Any other information "Coming in June" and so forth should also be in the same or similar font. Try not to add too much text however, as it will take away from the imagery which is what really sells a movie.

Step5 >> Use a small, undefined text (meaning, no bold) to enter all the cast and crew information, known as the credits. This is typically put at the very bottom of the poster. You can put it at the very top though if you would like to if the bottom of the visual is particularly striking or different. You now have a movie poster. This can be printed anywhere that does photo and poster printing.
